Smartsheet

Tato can search your workspaces, read and update sheets and rows, add comments, and read reports and dashboards in Smartsheet.

Setup: A Smartsheet admin allows MCP access and registers Tato once. Then a Tato admin adds Smartsheet as a connector. Each person then connects their own Smartsheet account from Tato chat.

Smartsheet's MCP server needs a Business, Enterprise, or Advanced Work Management plan.

Connect Smartsheet

Smartsheet doesn't let apps register themselves automatically, so an admin has to allow MCP access and register Tato first.

Allow MCP access in Smartsheet

You need to be a Smartsheet System Admin for this step.

  1. Open Admin Center and go to Manage AI settings.
  2. Under activation controls, turn on Other MCP Clients.

Copy Tato's OAuth callback URL

  1. Open MCP connectors in your organization settings. Press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) and search for MCP connectors.
  2. Copy the OAuth callback URL.

Register Tato in Smartsheet

  1. In Smartsheet, click your account icon in the lower left and open Developer Tools.
  2. If this is your first app, press Create Developer Profile and fill in your details.
  3. Press Create New App and fill in the name, description, URL, and contact fields.
  4. Paste Tato's OAuth callback URL into App redirect URL, then save.
  5. Copy the App client ID and App secret.

Add Smartsheet in Tato

Open MCP connectors in Tato and follow Connect your apps to Tato. Use the MCP server URL for your Smartsheet region:

When Tato asks, enter the app client ID and app secret you copied from Smartsheet.

What you can do

  • Update a project plan row after a status change is confirmed in a meeting.
  • Add a comment to a row with the latest decision from a meeting.
  • Ask Tato to pull the latest data from a sheet or report into a status report.

Search returns up to 100 results, and very large sheets are only partly read. Deleting rows or columns can't be undone, so consider turning off delete actions under Tools when you add the connector.
